National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) inaugurated the first National Data Center in Islamabad on Wednesday the 24th of August 2016.
The main target to design this Data Center is to assist in implementing the E-governance schedule of the Federal Government of Pakistan.
This inauguration ceremony was attended by federal minister of IT Miss Anusha Rahman Khan, Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Dr. Ismail Shah, and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) experts of government and private departments. This inauguration ceremony was organised by Huawei Technologies Pakistan Pvt. Ltd.
On this occasion Miss Anusha Rahman Khan told that National Data Center for E-governance is the first priority of Government of Pakistan. Federal Government is working private companies to contend these types of projects in time.
Miss Anusha Rahman Khan told that Government of Pakistan is trying to deliver 3G services in all parts of the country including villages in remote areas. She said that federal government is also providing basic IT training to the children of Sweet Home in different parts of the country.
In an opening speech of the inaugurating ceremony Chairman NTC Brig. (R) Viqar Rasheed Khan said that the Data Center will be enhanced with the latest IT characteristics and it will prove to be a extremely technical. This Data Center will facilitate to the government departments with different services in data communication as other private companies are offering to their clients.
The designing and establishment contract of this Data Center was signed with Inbox Business Technologies and Huawei in March 2016. It is amazing and proud moment for National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) that this Data Center was designed and established in 5 months.
Chairman NTC told that this Data Center is a providing reliable and secure data communication to government bodies and it will protect the government departments from cyber threats.
This Data Center is designed to meet Tier-III standars and will offer services like Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). This Data Center will aid government in providing e-Governance, e-Commerce, and e-Health etc. etc.
